Role Summary

The Equipment, Fuel, and Cleanup Team Member is responsible for ensuring that essential equipment and fuel are readily available, operational, and properly maintained during disaster relief efforts. This role involves setting up and monitoring equipment, managing fuel supplies, and performing cleanup tasks to keep the site safe, organized, and efficient for all team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment Management: Set up, inspect, and maintain equipment as needed for disaster relief activities, ensuring all items are in safe working condition.
  • Fuel Coordination: Monitor fuel levels, handle refueling for equipment and vehicles, and track fuel usage to support continuous operations.
  • Site Cleanup and Organization: Perform daily cleanup tasks, including waste disposal, debris removal, and organization of work areas to ensure a safe and clean environment.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Assist with minor repairs or report issues with equipment to the Logistics Team Lead for resolution.
  • Coordination with Other Teams: Communicate with the Logistics Team Lead and other departments to prioritize equipment and fuel needs, adapting to the evolving requirements of the site.

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of equipment handling, fueling procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and carrying supplies.
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to identifying equipment or maintenance needs.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly under challenging conditions.

Working Conditions

This role involves physically demanding work in disaster-affected areas, often outdoors and in varying weather conditions. Team members may be required to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends, to support the needs of the relief operation.

Pre-Deployment Preparation

  • Complete training on equipment handling, refueling procedures, and site cleanup protocols.
  • Familiarize yourself with the inventory of equipment and fuel storage locations.
  • Ensure access to necessary tools and safety equipment (e.g., gloves, safety goggles, ear protection).
  • Confirm emergency protocols and reporting procedures for equipment malfunctions or fuel spills.

Equipment Management

  • Inspect all equipment before use, checking for proper function, damage, or maintenance needs.
  • Set up required equipment as directed by the Logistics Team Lead, ensuring all items are positioned safely and securely.
  • Perform routine checks on equipment throughout the day to ensure it remains operational.
  • Identify and report any equipment issues that require repairs or replacements.

Fuel Coordination

  • Monitor fuel levels for all equipment and vehicles, ensuring adequate supply for uninterrupted operations.
  • Refuel equipment and vehicles safely, following proper handling and safety guidelines.
  • Log fuel usage and refueling times for tracking and reporting purposes.
  • Ensure fuel storage is secure and compliant with safety regulations to prevent spills or contamination.

Site Cleanup and Organization

  • Conduct daily cleanup tasks, including organizing tools, equipment, and clearing debris.
  • Dispose of waste properly, using designated bins or disposal areas as per site protocols.
  • Ensure high-traffic areas are clear of obstructions and hazards to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Organize and store equipment and supplies in their designated areas at the end of each shift.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

  • Conduct minor repairs or adjustments as needed, such as tightening loose parts or replacing small components.
  • Report any complex equipment issues or repairs to the Logistics Team Lead promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of any maintenance performed and submit reports on equipment conditions at the end of each day.

End-of-Day Wrap-Up

  • Perform a final inspection of all equipment, noting any maintenance needs or fuel requirements for the following day.
  • Securely store all tools, fuel containers, and equipment in designated areas.
  • Complete and submit any required logs or checklists to the Logistics Team Lead.
  • Participate in the end-of-day debrief, sharing any observations or recommendations for improving equipment, fuel management, or site cleanup.
